1. Ford doesn’t need a bailout.  They were actually doing well, up until Cash for Clunkers, when I stopped paying attention.
2. All companies do this.  If you’re going to sell cars internationally you’re going to need plans abroad.  Toyota has plans in the US, GM has plans in China, GM’s cars happen to come from Australia.  Multinational corporations often need to have multinational production capabilities.

 How the company that made the Escort, Taurus, and Explorer was the healthiest of the big three automotive companies in Michigan is a mystery to people in Michigan too. I guess it kind of speaks to how terrible GM and Chrysler are more than anything.
